This is Sophie! Good nutrition isn’t about perfection. It’s about creating sustainable habits that help you feel your best, and that’s exactly what Sophie is passionate about as a Nutritionist.
About Sophie’s Role
No two days look exactly the same for Sophie. Her role involves coaching clients through one-to-one calls, running both online and face-to-face weight management groups, taking part in ongoing training, and moderating online forums to support those on their health journeys. Alongside the client-facing side of her work, she also spends a significant amount of time on admin, ensuring everything runs smoothly behind the scenes.
Wanting to learn more about Sophie’s journey into nutrition, we asked her how she first got into the role. Sophie explained that she completed a degree in nutrition before applying for the position, setting her on the career path she enjoys today.
We were also interested to know what Sophie’s company expects from her in her role. She told me that she feels incredibly fortunate to work for such a supportive company, where employees are encouraged to work hard while genuinely enjoying what they do. Sophie also shared that her employer places a strong emphasis on staff wellbeing, encouraging team members to speak up if they’re struggling and ensuring support is available when it’s needed.
About nutrition & her expertise
Sophie’s approach to nutrition is centred around being more mindful of the food choices we make. Rather than focusing on restrictive diets or dramatic lifestyle changes, she believes in making small, realistic adjustments that can be sustained over the long term. For Sophie, lasting success comes from building healthy habits that fit into everyday life.
One of the biggest nutrition myths Sophie hears is that low-fat foods are automatically healthier. She explains that while this is a common belief, many low-fat products have fats replaced with added sugars, sweeteners or other ingredients to maintain their taste and texture. Sophie is keen to remind people that healthy fats are an essential part of a balanced diet and play an important role in overall health.
We asked Sophie “If you could only give one piece of nutrition advice for life, what would it be?” and we’ve taken Sophie’s answer on board. If Sophie could give just one piece of advice, it would be to start by making small, sustainable changes. She believes healthy eating shouldn’t be about depriving yourself of the foods you enjoy, but instead about being more mindful of your choices. For Sophie, creating lasting habits is far more effective than following restrictive diets that are difficult to maintain.

Rewarding & Challenging Aspects
One of the most challenging aspects of Sophie’s job is seeing clients who don’t make the progress they had hoped for. She understands how disappointing this can be, but also recognises that there are often many different factors that can influence someone’s journey. Sophie believes it’s important to look at the bigger picture and support each client with compassion, patience and realistic expectations as they work towards their goals.
However, the most rewarding part of Sophie’s job is seeing her clients make positive progress and grow in confidence. Knowing that she’s helped someone feel healthier, happier and better about themselves is what makes her work so fulfilling, and it’s one of the reasons she’s so passionate about what she does.
Personal Insight
When we asked Sophie “What’s something you wish more people understood about nutritionists?” she replied with “I wish more people understood that how much work and thought goes into a personalised client plan”. Rather than taking a one-size-fits-all approach, Sophie carefully considers each client’s individual needs, goals and lifestyle to ensure the advice she provides is both realistic and tailored specifically to them.
Working in nutrition hasn’t changed Sophie’s own relationship with food as she had already adopted a healthy lifestyle before her career in nutrition, but she says the role has taught her a great deal in other ways. Through working with a wide variety of clients, she’s gained valuable insight into the different challenges people face and has learned just as much from their experiences as they’ve learned from her.
We wanted to know what Sophie’s proudest moment of her career was so far and we loved her response. Sophie’s proudest career moment so far was securing her role as a nutritionist and finally being able to put everything she learned during her university degree into practice. Seeing her knowledge make a real difference in people’s lives has made the achievement even more rewarding, and we love to see it!

Fun & engaging Questions
“What’s your honest opinion on fad diets like keto or detox teas?” Sophie said “My honest opinion on detox products is they are usually very expensive. There is a lot I could say on detox products but we would be here all day! Keto diets can be beneficial for some clients but for a lot us its not sustainable in the long term.
“If you could ban one “wellness trend” forever, what would it be? The answer Sophie gave to us was “If I could ban one wellness trend it would be low fat diets (for most people!)”.
“What does a “healthy day of eating” look like for you personally?” Sophie replied (and made us at The Go Girl Society feel relieved at the fact that she mentions chocolate) “A healthy eating day for me is full of protein, healthy fats and carbohydrates. I try to vary my diet as much as I can. I also love my chocolate!”.
